BEMIS EARNS GREENCIRCLE CERTIFICATION

Bemis Manufacturing is proud to share that our moulded wood toilet seats, produced in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, have earned official Green Circle Certification for recycled content. This trusted third-party certification confirms that 100% of the wood we use comes from recycled pre-consumer wood waste.

By weight, the finished product contains minimum 71% recycled content in toilet seats with plastic hinges and minimum 66% recycled content in toilet seats with metal hinges. For our customers, this milestone means confidence in making environmentally responsible choices. For Bemis, it’s a reflection of our eco-conscious manufacturing practices and a continuation of our mission to innovate responsibly.

“With growing consumer demand for responsible purchasing options, clarity around what qualifies as ‘recycled content’ is more important than ever. To ensure we meet that expectation with honesty and transparency, we chose GreenCircle—a trusted, accredited third-party certifier known for their rigorous standards,” said Lena Mitkey, Director of ESG at Bemis. “This gives us confidence that we’re not only holding ourselves accountable but also helping our customers make informed choices.”

Sustainability in Action

Each year in addition to purchasing 100% recycled wood, we reintroduce 1.5 million pounds of wood dust and 3 million pounds of scrap seats back into production, keeping valuable materials out of landfills and in use. This commitment to circularity has been part of our DNA for decades. In fact, as far back as 1990, Bemis transitioned to a water-based sealer for painted wood seats, reducing environmental impact long before it became an industry norm. Our wood seats combine sustainability with versatility, with a wide variety of styles and designs to complement any décor.

Building on a Legacy of Responsibility

Sustainability isn’t new at Bemis. In 2024, we published our first ESG report, reinforcing our dedication to community, environment, and responsible growth. We’ve been reporting to CDP since 2018 and to EcoVadis since 2021, holding ourselves accountable to the highest standards of transparency and performance. With 125 years of innovation on the horizon in 2026, Bemis continues to grow as a leading molding company, guided by quality, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to reducing environmental impact. Together, we’re shaping a more sustainable future, one seat at a time.
